If scuba diving or at the very least, snorkeling is your cup of tea, then chances are you would have also invested in a good quality waterproof camera (assuming you do have the necessary shutterbug skills to go along with your other wet, wet passion, of course) – either that, or a DSLR with an expensive underwater housing. Well, Samsung intends to cater to those who are just starting out on this underwater photography thing with their latest release – the Samsung W200.
The Samsung W200 Pocket Cam is a video recording device you can carry in a pocket, but it has one big advantage over the Flip and the other pocket cams out there: it’s waterproof.hat’s where the W200 comes into its own as it can handle being submerged in up to 3 metres of water and therefore will laugh in the face of rain.It also doubles as a way of keeping the 2.3-inch 230K LCD from misting up with condensation. The W200 uses a 5-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor coupled with a F2.2 Bright Lens for better results in low light conditions. Video recording goes as high as 1080p at 30fps, but we suspect the best results will be at 720p and a higher fps.nstead there’s an SD card slot allowing you to record across multiple cards. Recording is limited, however, as the battery can only handle 2 hours of continuous use before requiring a recharge. There’s also a USB connection for transferring data and HDMI for output to a HDTV.
